Consumption Room Niddastraße
The consumption room follows a community-based, harm-reduction approach aimed at drug users who are in the acute phase of addiction and in extremely poor health. The primary objectives are preventive health care and life-saving assistance.
In addition to hygienic consumption facilities and syringe exchange, those affected receive information on safer use and safer sex and are educated about the transmission routes and risks of infectious diseases. In the event of drug-related emergencies, first aid measures are initiated, and paramedics or emergency physicians are notified as necessary. Issues related to drug use are addressed through conversations and brief interventions.
The goal is to encourage drug users’ motivation to change and to take initial steps tailored to their needs.
